The Alters All Site Down To Try To Give Us Some Gameplay

The Alters — What If The Alters Could Play The Game

The Alters finally answer the question what would happen if The Alters each played the game

After so many delays for The Alters out there, we are still playing the waiting game… It is still slated to come out some time in 2025, but 11 Bit Studios has yet been able to nail down when that is going to be. That is a bit of a letdown still, but that does not mean we do not have some fun updates for The Alters as we wait for it to hit the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In fact, here we go with some fun new gameplay for the game. All of which based around how each of the various Jans we might encounter in the game might go about playing it. All to further highlight how vastly different each version of the character can end up being as we get to play it eventually.

In the following video for The Alters, we get to watch as the various Jans argue over how to play the game while we get to see some of the exploration and base-building aspects that will be in the final version of the game. Along with moments where it looks like we will be in danger and run the risk of death too. Something feels rather permanent for the specific version of the character. That to me reads as if we are going to need to be careful with each of our Alters in the game as we could end up with only the brash and cocksure ones left in the facility. That, of course, will only lead to something absolutely terrible to go down in the game. Have a look and see what I am talking about as we wait longer for the release and to see how careful we might need to be out there.

The Alters — What If The Alters Could Play The Game

Survival may be a familiar challenge in games, but 11 Bit Studios’ upcoming ambitious sci-fi title, The Alters, takes it to an intensely personal level. In The Alters, survival isn’t just about enduring the unknown — it’s about confronting yourself in the most personal way possible; face-to-face. After all, what could be more personal than navigating life-or-death decisions alongside alternate versions of who you could have been?

Jan Dolski is an ordinary worker—now the sole survivor of a crash landing on a distant, unforgiving planet. Stranded and alone, he faces an impossible task: operating a massive mobile base designed for an entire crew all while escaping the relentless, burning sun. His only chance lies in the Alters—alternate versions of himself, shaped by pivotal choices he never made, each with different skills, different memories, and different lives.

As revealed in the latest trailer, which subtly plays with the notion of breaking the fourth wall, working with these different Jans is anything but straightforward. They are not just copies. Some took different paths and look upon the first Jan’s choices with pity. Others succeeded where he failed, living lives he never had the chance to—and now, maybe, they don’t even believe he has the guts to be a leader.

But none of that matters when survival is at stake. Like it or not, they must find a way to work together—one way or another.

The Alters blends a meaningful, emergent narrative—where choices truly matter—with survival gameplay, exploration, resource gathering, and base-building and management mechanics. Developed by 11 Bit Studios’ in-house team, which includes members behind the bestselling This War of Mine, the game is set to launch in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass.

Do you think this shows off how vastly different each of the Alters will be in the game or is it just a bad path we have gone down to cause the in-fighting? How would things function if all of the Jans in the game we level-headed and could that cause different issues? How many will we have walking around at the same time and will there be some kind of cap as we have seen in other games kind of like this one? Head on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else that we have for the game out there. We hope we have a lot more for The Alters soon, along with a release. We will certainly keep the news flowing out for it as often as we get it, so please do the right thing and keep checking back in for all of that and everything else we can offer up to the site.
