A new gameplay overview for Atomfall is out there to gear us all up and send us further into the world of Atomfall
The year is starting up and now we get to see how things are going to end in the world of Atomfall. That is, we are back with the game to look at how it has been evolving during the development and to see the new post-apocalypse that Rebellion is going to place out there on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Although, Atomfall is more of an alternate history kind of game with the events of it all happening based on if the events of the 1957 Windscale disaster were much worse than it was. That and cause all manner of different things to come about in the English countryside than where we will truly be on March 27th, 2025. That is the release date and then we can compare to see if the lands are still free of nuclear fallout. There is still time for real life to make this fiction real…
Jokes aside, here we have a new gameplay overview for Atomfall now that we have the full setting. We are going to wake up in this land as an amnesiac and then be forced to wander the lands in a single-player survival mode. Navigating from location to location that could be run by forceful military factions, cultist factions, massive robots, or good old-fashioned irradiated mutants. All things we are going to need to survive and use all of our guns and ammo to bring down. Thankfully, in Atomfall, we will have the ability to learn and craft along the way. So, we will need to keep an eye out for all of these little hidden items about the world so we can learn new recipes and other skills. Not to mention better weapons and replenishing our ammo as it will be scarce. Have a look at some of this in motion and see if this is going to be a world you are going to want to get lost in.
Atomfall — Gameplay Overview
Atomfall will launch on March 27, 2025 and is now available to pre-order. Atomfall is coming day one to Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Atomfall will also release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
In this official gameplay trailer, Rebellion unveils the dangers and mysteries awaiting you in our gripping new single-player survival action game, Atomfall. Atomfall is inspired by the real-life events of the 1957 Windscale disaster and the story picks up five years later in a fictionalized quarantine zone that encompasses rolling countryside, valleys, caves, and even a picturesque English village.
But this picture-perfect postcard setting is a hostile landscape that hides a dark mystery. To get to the bottom of what happened at Windscale, you will need to navigate military encampments, delve through abandoned bunkers below ground, and risk your life in Pagan ruins. Your trusty metal detector will also help you uncover a few secrets buried beneath the surface!
Central to the dark mystery are the host of eccentric characters and cryptic organizations that inhabit the quarantine zone. These individuals have been cut off from the outside world for years and left to their own devices, so are anything but normal. Your interactions with them are important and will shape your journey. But be careful, they aren’t all friendly and you will need to get to grips with an array of ranged and melee weapons if you are to survive!
The look and feel of Atomfall is giving me a whole lot of Fallout and The Last Of Us vibes when it comes to the core gameplay. Both massively fun and amazing titles to grab inspiration from, so as long as the team can get close to any of that, we could have another hit on our hands. That would leave the story and other setting elements that need to shine a bit more, but the team has given us some bangers in the past, so I have faith. It does feel a little odd to use such an unknown event in human history to push it all forward, though, I guess that is the wonders of the medium we have here. To tell stories that are seldom heard while keeping us all engaged. It would be a bit of a downer if Atomfall just followed the usual WWII or other massive nuclear fallout style of story, so it will be nice to see things from history that we never get. Now if only we could get other developers and publishers to follow the same logic.
Is this the setting you were expecting from Atomfall or did you think it was going to be another in the line of titles we have seen before? How will this one feel different than the other games like it beyond the setting and story? Will we be able to max out all of our skills in the game or will we need to pick and choose along the way to add to the difficulty? Head on down to the comment section to give us all of your thoughts on this and everything else that we have out there for it. We will keep on bringing all of the news that we can for Atomfall, so please keep on checking back in for all of that here and on all of our channels out there. I know you will want to keep as up to date on all of this as best as we all can.
