The console release date for The Thaumaturge is finally set down and we can get a slight taste of what this Thaumaturge offers right now
It has been a little bit of a wait, but here we go with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S getting their chance at experiencing what The Thaumaturge has out there. Well, a little bit of a wait still as Fool’s Theory is only ready to give us a few small things now. The first being that we know the full game will be released on December 4th for the consoles. The second part to all of this is that if you were curious about how The Thaumaturge is going to play on either of those systems, there is currently a demo live on both for you to dip some toes in for the game. That way you do not only have to go by the videos and trailers that we have out there alone.
As it has been a while since the game hit the PC, The Thaumaturge is a new isometric RPG based around historical Warsaw and a group of humans who can wield some mystical powers to face off against demons. Not the normal ones from Christian mythology but those of the folk-lore in the area. Wiktor, our protagonist, is out there to solve all kinds of problems and send all of these demons back to their place using all of the skills and powers we unlock along the way. All while using the powers of the thaumaturge to read the emotions left behind on objects to also push the character-driven story forward and get to know the world a bit deeper. It looks and sounds like a whole lot of fun, and you can get a small taste of that just below as the demo downloads to your systems right now.
The Thaumaturge — Console Release Date
No one understands inner demons and deep-rooted human flaws better than Wiktor Szulski, a seasoned thaumaturge who perceives the subtle imprints of human emotion while hunting folklore-inspired monsters hidden beyond the veil of reality. Developed by Fool’s Theory, The Thaumaturge, a historically rich, character-driven RPG set in 1905 Warsaw, will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 4th. A playable demo is currently available on both consoles.
The game follows Wiktor, a world-weary thaumaturge returning to his roots in Warsaw—a bustling city teeming with cultural diversity, serving as a vivid backdrop for his journey. Wiktor’s story unravels the secrets of his troubled past alongside those of Warsaw’s eclectic residents, representing every facet of the city’s society. Ultimately, he may even uncover the intrigues of Rasputin, a shadowy figure weaving influence at the highest levels of the Imperial Court and within the Tsarist forces occupying Poland.
With his thaumaturgic powers, Wiktor sees beyond the ordinary, manipulating others’ wills to achieve his ends and forming connections with mystical beings known as Salutors. While these entities offer distinct advantages in turn-based combat and detective-style investigations, each also brings a unique burden—whether Pride, Recklessness, or another flaw—which Wiktor must absorb, making their powers a double-edged sword.
