The recently announced Indiana Jones has finally been revealed, with gameplay, as Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
It was announced a while back as coming and now here we are with the official reveal for Indiana Jones And The Great Circle. This is the title that Machine Games and Bethesda brought up a few years ago and are now finally able to give it a full name and some gameplay. All so we can get to experience more of Indiana Jones on our Xbox Series X|S and PC later this year. Yes, that does mean that they have dropped the PS5 from the release line-up as many speculated was going to happen. Now we get to sit and wait to see how that will all pan out. For now, though, we have some gameplay to look at and a bit more to dig into so we can see if this IP should be carried onward.
First this worth noting for this Indiana Jones title, is that it is going to be a first-person game and not a third-person. An odd choice given that the usual fans of this IP would like to see the character doing all of the heroic things, but we will be going through in a first-person mode most of the time with the game shifting to third-person only for scripted sequences or things like climbing. Weird choice, but we will have to go with it. That out of the way, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle does have us picking up with Indy during a new event that has us tracking down this “Great Circle.” This being a straight line around the world that connects all of the massive monuments placed out there. Somehow this creates a perfect circle around the globe and then we get to punch/shoot nazis, solve puzzles, and perform all of the other various actions that the character is known for. Here is a bit of the gameplay we have to offer up as of now.
Indiana Jones And The Great Circle — Gameplay Reveal
Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders Of The Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them – Indiana Jones. You’ll become the legendary archaeologist in this cinematic action-adventure game from Machine Games, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, and executive produced by Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard.
There is a longer developer information drop, which is below, where they go into some of the other facets of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle. All of which makes it sound like we are getting a title closer to the titles that Machine Games have been known for with just enough changed to make it fit the IP. Even if their other IPs do lean into the punching and shooting Nazis aspect too. It sounds like it could be a massive and cinematic experience but one that I feel is going to leave a lot of gamers left out. Not only due to the fact that they had to make Indiana Jones And The Great Circle for their new business daddy, but also by obfuscating some of the better parts of the character behind the first-person view. Maybe this will work and I am being a bit too cynical, but we will have to wait until later in the year to know. Have a look at the full developer drop now and see some of the other non-gameplay things that have gone into this title.

Does it feel a bit too close to Wolfenstein or does that just show that the team knows what is a winning formula and will be giving us all something of the same quality? Will there be the same issues with the team needing to remove the PlayStation functionality as we have seen with other Bethesda games or was that all fixed early in the cycle and we will never know?
