Console gamers will soon get a chance to experience The Outlast Trials with the release date for this version of The Outlast Trials
No longer are the horror trials going to be left on the PC for The Outlast Trials. No, they are now on their way to the consoles with the latest update that we have from Red Barrels for the game. An update that shows off how you too can be screaming at a screen when the inevitable horror stalks and kills you in the game. If you have a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S, you need to get ready for all of this. At least when March 5th, 2024, rolls around and The Outlast Trials comes to your home. We now have a release date set for when we all can join the collective screaming out there…
This announcement, most likely, also means that the PC version of The Outlast Trials will be dropping the Early Access side of things and jumping into a full release. If I had to put money on it. This way we can all experience the multiplayer horror experience with each other. That or stick to playing Outlast by ourselves and keeping the other three people out of it all. What is a good horror challenge if we cannot make it through all of the trials by ourselves, right? Not that there is strength in numbers as we face off with the powers that be during the Cold War. Most likely not, as this is an alternate history kind of thing where even more horrors are played out during the wars.
The Outlast Trials — Console Announcement
The Outlast Trials is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on March 5th, 2024.
The Outlast Trials, is a brand new take on the acclaimed Outlast survival horror series, set in the same terrifying universe as the previous titles, only this time you can choose to play on your own or with friends in a team of up to four people.
Set in the height of the Cold War era, players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact.
I am super excited to see The Outlast Trials finally get to this place in its development. The original titles that sparked this IP off have been some of my favorites in the new wave of horror video games out there. It is a little hard to think that a multiplayer version of it will improve any of it, but having held off until the Early Access is over, my judgment has been tempered. I hope that they do have some form of cross-play over all of the platforms just in case I do get the wild hair to play The Outlast Trials with some friends, but that does not seem to be listed here. Maybe as we get closer to the launch on the consoles, we will get that confirmation so I too can scream at a camera when something spooky jumps on the screen.
Have you been playing The Outlast Trials up to now or did you need to hold out until the console launch to experience it all? Will it be better to play with friends or will you still go with the solo play of it all? Is there a cross-play feature in the mix or will each platform get forced into their own lobbies with no one else to help them out? Take to the comments and discuss all of this there. We will share anything else we have for The Outlast Trials on the site, so please keep on checking back for all of that and much more. I know I am ready to head back into this universe, even if it is set in a multiplayer way.
