Head behind the scenes again for Baldur’s Gate 3 as we see how the third villain of Baldur’s Gate 3 came to life
With the evils and launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 almost upon us, at least for the PC version of the game, it would be nice to get one more look at another of the main villains we will have to contend with in the game. This is also the thought from Larian Studios with one more behind-the-scenes video for us to look at just before August 3rd for the PC launch and well before the September 6th PS5 launch. All of which is to highlight Orin the Red as performed by Maggie Robertson. You might know this voice by another big, pun intended, character they voiced by the way of Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. Although, this time, it feels like it is a big personality instead of a big person.
As you are about to hear if you did not skip on down to the video already, Orin will be a little more of the bloodthirsty villain in Baldur’s Gate 3. Which, I guess, does show a pattern for the voice actor but that is just a fun side thing to catch. What we do get to see is just how Maggie has poured more of the over-the-top performance in to make Orin feel just like the chaotic villain we are going to need as we see the masterminds play out in the background. That and how close to the weapons used for killing that Orin will be in Baldur’s Gate 3. No matter how you take it, it does look like this will be a new trio of villains that will haunt some dreams as we head into the future of the game and see just what it all has to offer up for us all.
Baldur’s Gate 3 — Maggie Robertson On Becoming A Shapeshifting Evil
With the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 just around the corner, Larian Studios has released a video introducing the RPG’s third and final central antagonist: Orin the Red.
A practitioner in the art of inflicting pain and a grandmaster of murder, Orin has killed for many years but has yet to be caught, thanks in part to her shapeshifting abilities, which enable her to take the form of anyone – perhaps even someone in your camp.
Orin the Red is voiced by the incredible Maggie Robertson, known to many as the voice of Lady Dimitrescu (Resident Evil Village) and Skjóthendi the Unerring (God Of War Ragnarök).
As Orin, Maggie Robertson joins General Ketheric Thorm (J.K. Simmons) and Lord Enver Gortash (Jason Isaacs) to complete the “unholy triumvirate” of villains in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5. See the attached map for release timing per region on PC.
I am curious to see how often Orin’s shapeshifting abilities will be used in Baldur’s Gate 3, though. It does seem like an easy way for the villains to get things done and handled while also giving the writers an easy way to shape a story without it being too convoluted. Depending on how well they work that angle at least. It would feel like a little bit of a cop-out if we find out that one of the characters we have been romancing the whole time was just feeding information back instead of helping us end with all of our living. Especially if we divulge in the story of Baldur’s Gate 3 that we aim to stop them. Why would there not just be a simple throat slit in the night if Orin could always get that close to us? I guess we will find out next week for sure.
Have you been excited to see how this villain will play up things in this Baldur’s Gate or are you focusing on the others more? Will the writers use the shapeshifting against us at all or will it only be for other scenes where things need to get done? Could Orin be the main villain of it all or will Orin only be one of the lesser evils with Ketheric being the main one we will have to face off against? Head into the comment section to let us all know what you think about all of this. We will share all that we can for Baldur’s Gate 3, so please keep on checking back for all of those updates and many more.
