The Lines Are Being Redrawn For Injustice 2’s Factions

Injustice 2 — The Lines Are Redrawn

A new story trailer for Injustice 2 has dropped and it shows off the big bad of Injustice 2 as well as quite a few new characters to join the fight

We spoke of this yesterday and now we are here with a new look at Injustice 2 and confirmation that Darkseid will be a pre-order bonus mixed in there. What we didn’t speak on was the fact that we would be seeing a new story trailer for the game from NetherRealm Studios and many new characters being added into the roster; even though we are still waiting for character breakdowns now. With all of that though, we now know that Injustice 2 is going to ride on from where Injustice left off and then throw in a whole lot of curve-balls to shake up not only the game but the world. Or at least the world that Injustice 2 is taking place in as last time I checked we have no super-powered beings saving us from the horrors of man…

The quick and dirty version of the story here is that in Injustice 2 Superman has been brought down from his insane regime by Batman. The world is still recovering from it all and the normals have no clue what to really do. Then wouldn’t you know it, Brainiac has now decided to invade and destroy Earth forcing Batman to regroup with the new characters and teams to help stop all of this. Although it doesn’t look like it is going to be smooth sailing as everyone looks to have their own agenda still even though Earth is where they keep all of their stuff. I swear The Tick should be here and in charge of the planning when you look at it all laid out here.

Injustice 2 — The Lines Are Redrawn

Injustice 2 picks up where Injustice: Gods Among Us left off. Though Batman has won the battle with Superman, he’s still facing threats on all sides. Former members of Superman’s regime continue to elude justice. And a shadowy new group, The Society, threatens chaos across the globe.

With many of his allies either victims of, or collaborators with, Superman’s failed regime, Batman faces this dangerous world short of help. That’s why he’s brought together a new squad of Super Heroes. When Earth is invaded and threatened with destruction, Batman and his new team are thrust into action!

Hopefully you paid close attention to the new story trailer for Injustice 2 there as we did get to see some new characters that have yet to be announced in the mix there. Of course there is Brainiac and Darkseid as mentioned before, but we do get to see Robin (Damian Wayne), Poison Ivy, and Bane mixed in here. I’m going to guess that they are playable as it would seem odd to focus on them and then not have them in Injustice 2 but stranger things have happened before. I’m going to guess that we’ll see a breakdown of these characters from NetherRealm Studios here soon as well as more of the missing roster being shown off on the website for the game already. There are still a lot of unknowns.

To go along with this new story trailer too we also have word on the different version of Injustice 2 that will be out there for purchase and each coming with their own little extras. More or less it looks like there will be extra DLC characters mixed in as well as some coloring for the gear in the game but the break down is thus:

Digital Deluxe Edition

  • 3 DLC fighters
  • Premier Skin for Supergirl
  • Defender Shader Pack

Ultimate Edition

  • 9 DLC fighters
  • Premier Skins for Supergirl, The Flash, and Green Lantern
  • Destroyer and Defender Shader Packs

Totally worth noting here is the fact that we get to see Green Lantern get added into the roster here as a playable character given that there is an alternate skin that will turn him into the John Stewart version of the character. Also given that the team is giving each not only a new look but a new voice and dialog for the characters we can technically add in Reverse-Flash and Power Girl. Of course their moves and abilities in the game will be the same but they will at least feel more like a new character than just a bit of coloring and gear changing on them. At least I thought it would be worth noting. Also the fact that the final roster could be looking at almost 40 characters when all is said and done. Unless NetherRealm is forcing us to pick up characters in Injustice 2 like Capcom is for Street Fighter V. I’m going to guess not but I can see it going that way with nine more already planned for DLC.

What do you think about the story for Injustice 2 now that we have more to go on? Do you think that the roster is getting a little too Batman filled or is it just where we are at the moment? Do you think that the DLC characters will be fully new characters to the game or will they force us to pick up new these new characters to flesh out the roster screen that we’ve already seen from past showings? Let us know your thoughts on all of this and more down in the comments. As we get more for Injustice 2 we will definitely have it up here on the site. Be sure to check in often as you won’t want to miss out on any of the future updates that will be coming.
