More gameplay for REVEIL was given to us all during the many live streams with REVEIL taking us deeper into the horrors
It is easy to get lost in all of the video dumps going on out there in this weird time of things, but here we are catching another horror title with REVEIL. A nice little title that was shown off for a moment in the Future Games Show that happened. Now we have a better look at what Pixelsplit has been working on to get us here. REVEIL is a narrative-driven horror title that will have us walking around more creepy locations on our PC this year, so it does make sense that we get a taste of it all now. Get those waffle fingers ready to hide your eyes from the horror out there…
Now that we have that out of the way, let us dig into the new looks we have for REVEIL. Even though it is all listed as gameplay, it looks more and more like it is small segments of gameplay linked together. With this being a story and puzzle game, I am guessing it is to keep spoilers to a minimum while showing off the various horror-themed locations we will be walking through. It does look like there will be a whole lot as we head deeper into the Nelson Bros Circus and navigate the tents and various attractions out there too. Those that have been paying attention to the site for a while now should know that creepy carnivals are my thing, so REVEIL has me sold just by that alone.
What is hard to gather here, though, is if REVEIL will be more than just a walking simulation with a few puzzle games mixed in. I see we are getting a version of Labyrinth here to solve and some levers we need to flip, but this new gameplay does not make it clear how heavy that will be in the mix. There have been other titles like REVEIL out there that have made those claims but only gave us a few little puzzles with the game relying more on the shock value or weirdness of the world to keep us going. Not a terrible thing, sure, but I would rather know what I am getting into before throwing down the money to pick a game up. Just on a basic level.
REVEIL — Gameplay
German developer Pixelsplit and publisher Daedalic Entertainment have unveiled a hair-raising new trailer for their upcoming narrative-driven horror indie, REVEIL. Debuted during the Future Games Show this past Saturday, the trailer for the first-person psycho-thriller showcases atmospheric gameplay in claustrophobia-inducing environments filled with mysteries.
REVEIL is a narrative first-person psycho-thriller game that focuses on story, puzzles, and exploration. Find out what’s going on inside Walter Thompson and what his dark past at the Nelson Bros Circus has to do with it.
Versatile, handcrafted puzzles, unanswered questions, captivating clues, and a disturbing psyche demand a lot from both the player and the protagonist, Walter Thompson.
Can you manage to make sense of it all? Should you persevere, there is a chance to find answers to your questions.
Features:
- A deeply psychological experience that will play with your feeling of reality.
- Five playable acts in diverse, carefully designed environments.
- First-person narrative experience including:
- Various puzzles and riddles
- Beautiful and immersive visual experience #madewithunity
- Multi-layered narrative with psychedelic, biographical, and disturbing elements
- Atmospheric architecture, painting, and writings referring to the circus era of the 60s
Did you see more going on in REVEIL than I did here and will the puzzles be deeper than we have seen before? Will the game lean into the weirdness of things and the reality-bending more than anything and just be an odd walking simulation? Does it matter and the main setting of the game has you pulled in as it does for me? Head down to the comment section and then feel free to discuss it all in length. I know there is more for REVEIL to flow out the, so keep coming back here to see and hear all of those wonderful updates as they come out there.
