Dive into the weapons of Witchfire and see how Witchfire will be turning some of the normal weapons into something bigger than we thought

It is time to dive into some of the gunplay in the mix of Witchfire with a look at the weapons. Well, at least, one of the weapons in the mix from The Astronauts for the game and how it will change things up from the usual style that shooters have. Maybe not change things up, but place a new feature to the game that will help Witchfire stand out a bit beyond just the setting. A feature that will keep us all trying to mix in some of our magic into the shooting. This will be something that only the witch hunters of the world will be able to do, so do not expect any of the other enemies to not have them in the mix. It would be a weird title if all of the enemies are bringing swords to a gunfight instead. That would make this all a fast title to beat.

Moving along from that, though, Witchfire‘s guns will shoot and reload as the normal guns out there. Each of them will have various magical abilities based on our skill a bit. The one we get to see here is called the Hunger. A gun that will give us new ammo based on how many critical hits we make during the gameplay and between reloads. The short version is that the more critical hits we make, the more special bullets that will go into the gun on the next reload. Also how much harder these rounds will hit in Witchfire? Something that will be cumulative along the way and make sure we are not just rapid reloading at all times in general. That will make the gunplay here function even differently than we have had in every other FPS out there. Good to know so we do not waste any of this cool ammo.

The Astronauts have released a sizzling new video showcasing the gunplay of their upcoming dark fantasy shooter, Witchfire. With commentary from The Astronauts co-founder and creative director, Adrian Chmielarz, the video reveals how guns in the game possess forbidden magic only accessible by witch hunters, known as preyers.

From the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm, Witchfire is a first-person shooter set in a grimdark fantasy world in which a deadly war rages between powerful witches and the Church. In this alternate reality, witches are very real and very dangerous— but so is the witch hunter. Armed by Vatican sorcerers, players wield an ungodly array of guns and forbidden magic as they combat dark terrors on behalf of their shadowy benefactors.

In the sneak peek at gunplay, Chmielarz zeroes in on a powerful firearm uniquely suited to sharpshooters, called Hunger:

Hunger is a hand cannon that feeds on critical hits, getting stronger with successful shots. For each critical hit, players are granted powerful bullets that deal additional damage on their next reload. When preyers reach the second level of attunement with Hunger, they are able to magnify the power of successive critical hits: the more critical hits a player scores before a reload, the deadlier the next bullet will be. Hunger’s third and final level of attunement unleashes unholy gunfire capable of incapacitating and obliterating enemies with freezing magic.
