Death Stranding 2 is officially in the works for us and it looks like it could be showing off why Death Stranding should not have been played
It would not be The Game Awards if we did not have so many Hideo Kojima callouts and something from Kojima Productions here to show off to the world. Now, here we are, with the announcement of Death Stranding 2 in the works to carry on the story and themes of the original title on to the PS5 in the near future. At least we are assuming it will be the near future as this is the announcement that Death Stranding 2 is in production and not much else. If you want to ignore the four minutes of footage from the PS5 that shows off a bit more of the world and how things have moved forward out there. If we are to assume that we are looking at what will be in the final game and not something to throw us all off the scent of the truth.
As you will be able to see, Death Stranding 2 looks to be jumping forward a bit in time as it looks like BB is grown up a little bit and Sam is showing more of the age out there. That or was caught in one too many of those rainstorms out there in the lands. All of that and making us question if all of the connections we made in the previous Death Stranding was actually a good thing or leading to something much darker out there. Almost like another commentary on the world that might just hit at the right time. If you remember, the original title landed just when we were living in the real version of the game’s world. Being saved by delivery drivers and not being able to leave our bunkers. We all might need to take notice and keep an eye out for the next big thing that is going to hit the world and scar us all once more.
Death Stranding 2 — Announcement
Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding 2 for PlayStation 5 is officially in development. To mark the announcement, the studio has released an official teaser trailer at this year’s The Game Awards on December 8th, 2022.
As with all of his past masterpieces, the latest title will be produced, written, directed, and designed by Hideo Kojima himself. The cast announced so far includes Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker.
The original game, Death Stranding, was released by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 on November 8th, 2019, and by 505 Games for PC on July 14th, 2020. The Director’s Cut launched on September 24th, 2021, enhancing the Death Stranding experience by offering players more character action, expanded areas, extended storylines through new missions, and a unique Social Strand System that enables players to stay connected with each other around the globe through in-game actions, including donating valuable resources to rebuild structures. The Director’s Cut is the definitive experience and is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Have you been Expecting to see more for Death Stranding or did you think it was going to be a one-and-done type of game? Does this all sound like the events of the first game were not out for the best of the world and this will be the consequences of it all? Will there have been a time jump in the story or will it all be based around the rain that can age things so rapidly too? Sound off about all of that down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. I know we will see more for Death Stranding 2, so please keep checking back in for all of that and everything else we will be able to share with you. I have a feeling this one will be milked for all it can by those that say they are good friends with the developer.
