Some new rumors for Red Dead Redemption 2 have popped up and claim to know more about the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as more on the online mode
As it is every year, when the news starts to dry up due to the holiday festivities, the rumors begin to fly again and now we have a few more here for Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s of course not to surprising that these would start again now that Rockstar Games made the announcement and then went completely silent on it all. Fans want more and will dig for it all in the hopes to find something. With that, now we have claims from an anonymous source working on Red Dead Redemption 2 on just when to expect the online mode and what the story may entail once all is said and done. As with most rumors there is some merit in the logic but of course as Take-Two Interactive doesn’t comment on rumors, be sure to keep your hopes on all of this low until we get some official word.
The first topic is that of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s online mode that has been promised to be coming. As the rumor goes, we may not see that mode until sometime after the single player game is released. Not too different than what happened with GTAV so that wouldn’t be too shocking. Especially since it is claimed that the mode will be a lot like GTA Online only with the setting changed up and horses instead of cars. Seems a bit of an easy way out on things for Red Dead Redemption 2 which kind of points in the direction of falsehood on this rumor given the developer’s history but it is still floating out there. Again grains of salt need to be taken with all of this as it is still rumor.
The other massive rumor for Red Dead Redemption 2 here is that the single player game will have three protagonists for us to play as, also like GTAV, and will definitely be a prequel to the original game focusing around three of the members of John Marston’s gang. The prequel thing doesn’t sound like it is too farfetched given how Red Dead Redemption ended and the overall theme of things. I won’t spoil things for those who have yet to play the original but it does make Red Dead Redemption 2 hard to be a direct sequel to things and yet still feature the main character from the original. Although that title definitely suggests something else now doesn’t it?
As for the three protagonists taking us on a the ride through Red Dead Redemption 2, while it worked out well for GTAV, and I can see it working out well here too, I just would like to think that Rockstar Games wouldn’t go back to the same old gameplay mechanics just to get a fan-requested title out the door. They’ve always been one to press forward in my books and rehashing the same things with different skins and settings just doesn’t seem right to me. Of course I could be completely wrong and all of these rumors are true, but until we get official word on things this is just what we have to look at for Red Dead Redemption 2. Hopefully early in the year we will get a true update to it all and put these rumors to rest.
