The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum offers up one more trailer to enforce the split in Gollum’s personality
Things are getting a little crazier here for Gollum in the upcoming Lord Of The Rings game he is starring in. Not in the way that Daedalic Entertainment will be putting him in some weird and horrible situations, but that we are getting a highlight on how fractured the mind of the creature is. We should have all figured that by now, but we will be seeing much more of the split personality when we load up The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum on our PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, or PC in 2022. It is also something we have a little more highlighted here in the latest video we have for the game to take in.
Sadly, none of this is any actual gameplay for Gollum once again, but it does bring up some interesting questions about the game. It feels like they are trying to give us a morality system in the mix here with the two different personalities driving some of the actions. Beyond showing us all a bit more on how Gollum came to be what everyone knows him to be, maybe this will have us drive some of the choices as we sneak around the environments out there. We have already seen how some of the outside thoughts will float around for the character during some segments in screenshots, so maybe this is the element being driven home here now. Sometimes we will be forced to take certain choices to keep things flowing and that could lead to a further devolvement into madness. It also might not be much deeper than using it to dictate why poor choices are made to make the game progress too. We will just have to wait and see.
The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum — A Split Personality
The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action-adventure coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022.
Take on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to him. From his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood, climb, leap, and sneak your way past dangers. Skillful and sly, Gollum is also torn by his split personality. It is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.
Were you expecting anything less for a game about Gollum or did you think it would work like other titles like Styx? Will this one have a morality system in the mix or will it only be used to push the plot forward when it comes to choices that should not be made? Do you think that live gameplay will help answer many of these questions out there? Let us know what you are thinking down in the comments and then also feel free to discuss it all. There will be more for The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum, so keep a close eye on the site and our socials to stay as up to date as we can be.
