A new look at how the cards in Back 4 Blood will be able to modify the matches and keep Back 4 Blood feeling dynamic at all times
There is still a wait for us to be able to fully experience what Back 4 Blood is going to bring us in the amazing zombie shooter camp. There had to be some good reasons for the delay and I think we might be getting a good look at what to expect will get some upgrades in the game. Not that Turtle Rock has not mentioned anything about the card system in Back 4 Blood before now, but it does look like there is a lot more going on in the latest video we have that dives right into the mix of all of that. Something that will most likely be fleshed completely out before October 12th when the game hits the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
The following video gets a little further into the specific details of some of the cards out there for Back 4 Blood, but it looks like these are going to be modifiers that will be used for the various matches and areas. It starts with the “director” or AI playing things that will obviously be there to hunt and haunt the players in the match. Then all of the survivors will be able to counter or add in buffs like extra ammo cases and special weapons along the way. This is also where you can try to stack the odds in your favor against all of the dead in Back 4 Blood, or if you want to be a jerk play your own cards that will troll the rest of the squad. I am not sure why one would want to do that, but I can see that being something that gamers are going to do no matter the case. As I mentioned, you can see some new and fun looks at it all just below, and then try to get in on some of the early gameplay action in you are lucky.
Back 4 Blood — Card System
Warner Bros. Games and Turtle Rock Studios today released a new Back 4 Blood trailer providing an in-depth look at the game’s innovative Card System, a new rogue-lite feature that enhances your experience with each playthrough, ensuring every gameplay session is dynamic, intense and feels unique. Players can easily jump right into the action by choosing a pre-made default deck or dive into the Card System’s vast customization options to create their own fully personalized deck of cards.
Back 4 Blood takes advantage of an adaptive A.I. known as the Game Director, which works behind-the-scenes monitoring the actions, health, and choices of players. It responds accordingly by changing environmental conditions, adding obstacles, and unleashing special Ridden mutations through Card System modifiers known as Corruption Cards. Players can change up the gameplay by utilizing specific cards to strategize against the Game Director, from amplifying equipment to reloading weapons, as they take on hordes of enemies in their path.
Back 4 Blood is a first-person co-op zombie shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise and features thrilling, dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay and highly variable, customizable action to keep players coming back for more. The Back 4 Blood story takes place after a catastrophic outbreak where most of humanity has either been killed or infected by the parasitic Devil Worm. Hardened by unspeakable events and emboldened to fight for the last of humanity, a group of apocalypse veterans called the Cleaners have rallied to take on the infected horrors known as the Ridden and reclaim the world.
Back 4 Blood will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on Oct. 12, 2021. Pre-orders will receive a bonus Fort Hope Elite Weapon Skin Pack. Players can register now at Back4Blood.com for their chance to participate in upcoming hands-on tests.
Do you think this will keep each match in Back 4 Blood feeling truly dynamic or will the AI play the same cards often enough to figure out the best strategies? Do you think there will be ways to fully counter the game director or will it all be down to the luck of the random draw as it all alludes to? Can you already see what the trolls are going to try to do if there is not a solid stopgap placed down on them? Let us all know what you are thinking about here and then feel free to discuss it all in the comments. There will be more for Back 4 Blood and we will have it all here for you. Just be sure to keep checking back in for all of that and everything else we might have to offer up.
