A new 2D Action title, Hidden Deep, is announced and it looks like Hidden Deep will bring some deeper horrors to us all
Those looking for a fun new challenge might want to turn their gaze toward the newly announced title Hidden Deep. A new 2D Action Thriller title that is coming out of Cogwheel Software by the way of Daedalic Entertainment. Hidden Deep not only offers up the style of gameplay mentioned but also in the light of a deep planet exploration with some rather heaver Sci-Fi themes mixed in. Themes along the lines of Aliens and ancient cultures that have been running the planet longer than mankind has been aware. Something that could leave the crew of this exploration team a little paranoid and ready to turn on each other if they so feel the need to.
In Hidden Deep, it looks as if we are going to be running a crew of four as we explore an anomaly that has come about over a mile beneath the ocean floor. It has been a two-year process to get our team down to this location to not only explore but find out what is going on in these depths. We will have some interesting gadgets and equipment to help with all of this but it could all be for nothing once we get too deep. It looks like there is something else down there we will have to contend with onto of all of the natural dangers we have too. Caves will not magically stay solid and the ground will not always be sturdy as we run and flee from the various entities we will encounter in Hidden Deep. All with a classic feel to it all.
Hidden Deep — Announcement
Hidden Deep is a 2D Action & Exploration Sci-Fi thriller which action takes more than mile under the ocean floor. A group of researchers detected there some strange anomalies of unknown nature and organized an expedition to examine this mysterious phenomenon. After 681 days contact with the researchers suddenly breaks off. At this point, you are entering as the leader of the second team who must check what happened there.
Hidden Deep is an old-school game inspired by classic Sci-Fi games and movies of the ’80s and ’90s (mainly Aliens, The Thing, Half-Life (1)) an addictive bit of dark plot. Very much emphasis was placed on the richness and quality of character animations and general realism (as for 2D games). The game is running on its own engine with physics simulation and destructive terrain.
What do you think about Hidden Deep from this announcement we have? Will this be a rogue-like title that will have the various crew starting over each time? How will we be able to continue once things go completely sideways in this game? Do you think there will be some deeper mechanics to help all of this or will we just have to keep going in with a trial-and-error method? Feel free to let us know down in the comments. I will have my eyes on Hidden Deep and bring you everything I can for the game. Just be sure to keep coming back to the site to see it all.
