New gameplay for the Mafia: Definitive Edition is out there to take in to further surprise us on how Mafia is evolving to where it will be soon
There is still a month until the Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out here for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC with September 25th still being that date. Given how well the other two remasters we have had out of Hangar 13 and 2K Games, this is one I have been excited for. More so when you start to think about what the developers originally wanted for Mafia but were limited by the time and hardware. Granted, we can say that about all video games and forms of media out there, but we get to say it here for this one. Something that looks like it could have been mistaken for a new IP when you look at all of the new gameplay we have to take in right now. Buckle up and get ready for a long and good time here.
Unlike other big gameplay reveals, this one will focus a bit more on clips and segments of the new game to highlight many of the new features and technologies being used. Most of which we have seen in Mafia 3 with a few giving me those exact flashbacks but in the form of this game. They did lift the driving and gunplay systems from that one, so it makes sense. Even if things have been shifted to better fit the character we are playing in Mafia. A taxi driver that finds his way into the life and not a military-trained man. I do hope it flows over when and the progression does make it feel more like the character is getting better too.
It also looks like we are going to have a bit more in-depth story here as the mocap that is used here for the Mafia: Definitive Edition captures a bit more of the nuance in the scenes. Mix in the good old collectible items too, which will further expand those aspects and show better links between all of the titles to date, we may be seeing a broader scope for than the franchise than we could have thought. Have a look at all of the gameplay just below and see if you will be heading back into the game’s world when it launches out there again.
Mafia: Definitive Edition — Hands-On Gameplay
Here’s another in-depth look at Mafia: Definitive Edition gameplay made in partnership with GhostRobo and featuring insights from Hangar 13 President and CCO Haden Blackman.
Mafia: Definitive Edition releases September 25.
Are you still impressed by how the team has improved on the original Mafia game or would you still rather see a new title in the franchise? Do you think the collectibles will be a bit on the lighter side as compared to the others or will they go overboard with all of them here too? Would you like to see a form of aim-assist mix in as the character gets better in the story or would you rather just stick to your own skills when shooting people in the face? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. If we have more to share for Mafia: Definitive Edition, we will do it all here for you. Be sure to keep checking back in for all of that and more.
