The third season of The Walking Dead from Telltale has a new name, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, and aims for a November release date for episode one
I hope you weren’t attached to the original title as The Walking Dead: A New Frontier looks to be the new name of the famed franchise from Telltale Games. This seems a little odd to me as they are continuing the overall story but maybe there is a better or hidden reason than I am seeing. None the less we have the name and it looks like we are also going to be getting more of The Walking Dead this November on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile devices. Given the split releases on Batman that is going on it may be safe to assume.
Not many more details for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier have really come out outside of that, at least that we haven’t seen/heard before. We’ll be seeing Clementine grown up a bit to here young teenage years and a who new character in the mix. They’ll be fighting to keep their respective “families” alive and going in the story but what that truly means is up in the air. Especially since not everyone would have had the same ending point in the previous episode before this. Time will tell I guess…
“This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what’s come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “As a harrowing and horrific drama, ‘A New Frontier’ will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what’s left of humanity itself.”
“When we began this series, we explored what it meant to protect a character like Clementine at all costs,” said Kevin Boyle, Executive Producer on the series. “Years later, meeting her for the first time, Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his – both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society’s collapse.”
What are your thoughts on The Walking Dead: A New Frontier now? Do you think it will be a “reboot” to the story only keeping certain points from the history or will it keep it all? Do you think this time jump could be how they are dealing with the weird branches from before? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below.
