It looks like Outlast 2 has been hit with delays and we won’t be seeing Outlast 2 this October but sometime next year
Looks like some sad news has been added into the mix as it looks like Outlast 2 is going to be delayed until Q1 of 2017. This is never the news you want to get for your game but here it is none the less right from Red Barrels‘ social feeds. Although to be fair Outlast 2 never had a set date before now outside of October. Ideally this would have been perfect for a horror game but as it seems most of the horror titles end up in February instead of during the traditional month of terror. I guess it is good given all of the other PS4, Xbox One, and PC titles launching during that month.
As would be needed for being an update, this Outlast 2 delay comes right from their Facebook page and isn’t very open about the full reasons why. In fact, all we get here are the general “didn’t want to sacrifice our vision” kind of reasoning instead of a detailed on. It does sound like it could be tied more to community and tester feedback for the game so it is as amazing as the first Outlast but nothing solid on what that could be. They aren’t a crowd funded project so they don’t need to be as transparent in the development but it would have been nice. I guess we’ll all find out soon as to why the delay and then when we’ll get to play the game.
Outlast 2 Delayed
We had to make a difficult decision recently. After weighing our options we’ve decided to postpone Outlast 2’s release until Q1 of 2017.
We want you to know that we listen to your feedback, we see your excitement and we know you care about our work. Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.
This is not the type of news we ever want to deliver, but we are so fully committed to the world we’ve built and to our awesome community that we could not, in good conscience, release a game who’s limits haven’t been tested to the extreme.
Thank you for understanding. We promise Outlast 2 will scare the crap out of you.
Are you upset with the delay of Outlast 2 or do you think it will make the game better? Do you think this could be so Red Barrels can add in a VR feature for the platforms that will have it? Do you think February is a safe bet for when we will see the game land? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below. For all things Outlast 2 be sure to keep your eyes glued to the site here as we will keep bringing you the best and worst news you could want for all the games out there.
