The release window for Batman: The Telltale Series digital has been revealed as well as when Batman will be getting a physical version from Warner Bros.
As I assumed we would be seeing more of Batman: The Telltale Series as we got closer to SDCC and here we go. It isn’t a trailer as Telltale Games has stated that they will be showing us that next week during the big event and when they do their play through of the first episode live. But for now it looks like we only have news that Batman is coming to the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices digitally sometime in August. I’m going to guess during the first week of August given their normal schedule. But the bigger news is that the physical version of the game will be hitting on September 13th.
The physical version of Batman is coming to us courtesy of Warner Bros. as well as the new season of The Walking Dead. I’m guessing it was a package deal here but none the less we are getting physical version of each when they come. Just like the other physical versions of their titles still in progress though the disc will only contain the first episode of the game with a season pass code included so you can get the rest of the season as it comes. Why you would go that way for any Telltale Games IP is out of my comprehension but it is an option and gives us at least a solid date at the latest we can expect to dive into Gotham.
‘BATMAN – The Telltale Series’ Gets Retail Release Date; Sneak Preview Crowd Play During SDCC
Batman: The Telltale Series will be making its worldwide debut as a digital download with its first episode in August on consoles, PC/Mac, and iOS or Android based devices. The series will be available to purchase at retailers starting Sept. 13 as a special “Season Pass Disc,” which will include the first of five episodes in the season, and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates in North America. The series will then be available to purchase at retailers across Europe on Sept. 16.
As a refresher for those who don’t know what Batman: The Telltale Series is going to be, it is an episodic title that lets us take on the role of the caped crusader again. The big difference here is that unlike other Batman titles this one will focus only half of the game as the Bat and the other half we will be Bruce. The actions and conversations that happen in each portion will have some effect on each and we will have to see how it all plays out. It sounds and looks like a huge hoot to me and I can’t wait to see more.
Do you think that you will be picking up the digital or physical version of Batman here? Do you think that publishing the physical version of The Walking Dead was linked to Telltale making an awesome story game for their franchise? For more on Batman: The Telltale Series as it comes, and we know there will be more next week, keep your eyes right here as we will have everything for you.
