Soulcalibur VI Shows Off More Gameplay & A New Character

Soulcalibur VI — New Gameplay Today

A new character for Soulcalibur VI is here and with him comes a whole lot of new gameplay and details for Soulcalibur VI

Quite a bit of time has gone by since we last had a good Soulcalibur VI update and it looks like Bandai Namco has let some of the floodgates open a bit as we have a whole lot of new gameplay to look at and a whole new character for the series. It truly looks like they are taking some of the feedback, negative and positive, from the previous title and attempting to give fans a game they truly want. At least that is how it all seems at this point and there is still so much room to fall flat. For now though, we will hope for Soulcalibur VI to be the title we were hoping for since the last few titles that we had. All we can do is wait and hope for it to land well on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime this year.

Anyways, here we have a half-hour of new gameplay for Soulcalibur VI and the new character named Grøh to look at. Not much is known about the character sans him being a very anime styled assassin in the mix of it all. Nothing in the footage and description truly shows why we should be excited for the character here, but we are still in the early-ish phases of the game, so that can change real quick if the team so wants it to. At least we can sit here knowing that Soulcalibur VI is not going to just be another rehash of the old characters to excite us, but that we will have at least one new one in there. Most likely more, but that is what we have here thus far.

It also sounds like Soulcalibur VI will keep the traditional “ring-out” play that fans loved and will also be ditching a lot of what they hated about the last title. In fact, it sounds like we could be having a “reboot” here of sorts. At least in terms of the story as there was talk about some kind of time-travel in the story to explain the look of certain characters and the changes that were also coming to make Soulcalibur VI a game that everyone wanted. You can hear more of that speculation at the beginning of the following video. Have a look and then get ready to wait for a full reveal of everything sometime, most likely E3, soon.

Soulcalibur VI — New Gameplay Today

The Soulcaliburfranchise has been the premier 3D weapon-based fighting series since the original Soul Blade released in arcades in 1995. Soulcalibur VI retains the series’ signature 8-Way Run movement system, providing super smooth 3D movement, while integrating new gameplay systems such as the exciting Reversal Edge. Reversal Edge enables characters to clash against each other and follow-up with powerful counterattacks based on their opponent’s actions. Challenge the computer AI, compete against friends, or challenge fighters from around the world in high-speed dynamic battles with jaw-dropping visual effects.

Taking place in the 16th century, revisit the events of the original Soulcalibur to uncover hidden truths with a diverse lineup of new and returning characters with their unique fighting styles including series mainstays; Mitsurugi and Sophitia.

What do you think of Grøh so far for Soulcalibur VI as we see him? How many new characters do you think we will get at the end of the day or will it only be a very small group so that Bandai Namco can refocus everything back to what fans loved?
