Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 — Review

We sit down and review Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. I didn’t know trash could get a full priced boxed release. Here’s our review of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

Have you ever wanted to play the hideous love child of Sniper Elite and Modern Warfare? Do you buy a game called Sniper Ghost Warrior expecting fun and exciting sniper missions? Then don’t buy this game. Oh CI Games who hurt you?

Normally I don’t talk about a game’s story unless it’s a major selling point because I hate spoilers, but literally what the hell Sniper Ghost Warrior 3? A former love interest for Captain Generic, a former special forces sniper, that works for the main bad guys. Speaking of, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 starts off with you fighting Russians then you’re sent to Georgia; the one in the United States. The place mainly known for sweet tea and peaches. Also, there is a mysterious super soldier who turns out to be your brother who, after being captured in the prolog, was subjected to drug therapy. Great now they are ripping off the Winter Soldier storyline from Captain America.

CI Games sort of has a trend of ripping off popular games between this and Lords Of The Fallen they always seem to be pretty late to the gravy train. You can’t win if by the time you show up the opponent has already left with the championship. Back to the story of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3; does anyone remember Gears Of War 2 because they totally ripped off Dom’s story arc. You find a previous protagonist who asks for you to leave your pistol to end his life with some dignity.

Instead of using this as a strong character building point Jon, aka Captain Generic, gives Cole a pep talk and is allowed to redeem himself. God, I cannot go on talking about this cliché driven plot any longer. I bet you can’t guess Robert sacrifices himself to stop a catastrophe allowing Jon to set up for a sequel?

Also, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is trying to rip off Metal Gear Solid. Being open world, it’s mandatory you have at least three ways of doing something even if it means that splitting your time developing three different mechanics leaves them all feeling a bit slapdash. You can snipe, which I am sure most of us would want considering the title of the game. Alternatively, you can go in guns blazing hence the Modern Warfare comparison. Or you can do stealthy CQC. I figured the point of going open world was so Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 wouldn’t be a linear as its predecessors, though I guess we can’t be right all the time.

I noticed something strange right away because I had seen the multiplayer advertised for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. I even did some digging to make sure I wasn’t crazy and sure enough, it is supposed to have multiplayer. It’s not available currently at launch. This sort of sums up the whole game. The idiotic story, the awful textures, and mediocre gameplay. Even on PC with a modern graphics card this game looked like crap along with the horrible framerates. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was rushed and I can’t be convinced otherwise. They saw Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and vowed not to let another opponent get away. They weren’t going to wait two years to copy them. Between the two I would recommend Ghost Recon more because bad is good when compared to worse. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is very bad.
