Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water Is Releasing On All Current Platforms Soon

Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water — E3 2021 Teaser

For the 20th anniversary of the Fatal Frame IP, we will be getting Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water ported over to all of the current platforms out there

Another blast from the past will be gracing us here this year with Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water getting a re-release on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC. Yes, it looks like after all of this time of it being a Wii U release, Koei Tecmo has opted to bring the game back out and in a form for so many others to play. All of which comes out of the recent showcase that Nintendo held during E3 and just before the 20th anniversary of the Fatal Frame IP out there too. Some solid timing and, if I am guessing correctly, we will most likely see this one drop out there in October of this year. That is nothing confirmed but some speculation given how these things usually go. Horror games around Halloween are kind of a normal trope the industry likes to play.

It does not look like we will be getting much in the way of anything new for this version of Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water, besides the new ways to play the game. I am sure that it has been optimized to use all of the new hardware and run as smoothly as possible, but at this point, it looks like it will be just a port over to all of the listed platforms. This is all fine and well, as this was a fun title to play back in 2014. I just hope that this breathes a bit more life into the Fatal Frame IP so we can get a full and new title added to the list that uses all of the advancements over the past seven years. That is always the hope when we see ports and remasters like this out there. I am not going to hold my breath, though. At least there will be a new way to play it all and that definitely has me excited here.

Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water — E3 2021 Teaser

Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water takes players to the eerie Mt. Hikami, a sacred location haunted by bizarre and unfortunate occurrences — and a place where the water is believed to be housed by vengeful spirits. Through the eyes of Yuri Kozukata, Ren Hojo, and Miu Hinasaki, they will rely on just a flashlight and a unique camera — the Camera Obscura — with the ability to take pictures of ghosts, as they explore the mountain to find those who have disappeared. Will players be able to repel the deadly ghosts and uncover the mysteries surrounding Mt. Hikami?

Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water is an enhanced version of 2014’s Wii U release of the same name, which includes upgraded visuals to match the latest hardware advancements — offering an even more terrifying and immersive experience. Fans of this iconic series can not only play on their favorite gaming platform but will also be able to enjoy an all-new Photo Mode, allowing them to set up characters and ghosts in various scenes and adjust their poses in order to create the perfect spooky picture. In addition, there will be a selection of new costumes for the main protagonists, helping make every picture in your collection more unique.

Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water is releasing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam across North America in 2021.

Have you been dying to get a new Fatal Frame title in the mix of all of the other remasters lately? Were you hoping to see more than just a port of a great game this time around? Will this lead to a full and new title in the works from the team or will this be a way they gauge to see if that is even a solid option to go with? Feel free to leave your two cents down in the comments there. When there is anything more to share for Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water, I will drop it on the site for you to see. Please keep coming back here to see and hear all of it as it gets out there.
