Batman: The Enemy Within Has Been Announced & Coming Next Week

Batman: The Enemy Within — The Enigma

During SDCC Batman: The Enemy Within has been announced and will continue the story that Batman: The Telltale Series started for us all

So many things received the announcement out at SDCC and it sucks that Batman: The Enemy Within fell through the cracks over here. Especially given that the first episode is set to drop on August 8th next week and the fact that this IP has been one of the better ones in Telltale Games‘ basket for a while now. At least it has been for me and I have been wanting more of this Batman for quite some time now that the season ended for the other one. I just want to see where it all goes and how all of the choices will alter this brave new world for the character and all of the villains I made or took down over the course of it all. I guess it is a good thing that the choices are going to carry over just as they do with most of the titles they have out there.

While it would make sense to focus on some of the other Batman villains that were set up before, it looks like we are going to be getting more of The Riddler here with maybe a little bit of The Joker mixed right in. I’m not sure how The Joker will fit in, but from the following screenshots and descriptions, The Riddler is “back” in Gotham and up to his no good ways. No good in the ways that he was a creepier and more sadistic character than he has been traditionally. Batman: The Enemy Within makes it sound like he is going to be on par with the Jigsaw style of character we’ve seen recently and in other franchises over the last few years. The best version of this character in my eyes and it seems to sync up more with the comics that are currently published out there.

In this latest chapter, both Bruce Wayne and Batman will be forced into precarious new roles. The Riddler has returned to terrorize Gotham City, but his gruesome puzzles merely foreshadow an even greater crisis. With the arrival of a ruthless federal agent and the return of a still nascent Joker, Batman must navigate uneasy alliances while Bruce Wayne undertakes a perilous series of deceptions. Which of Batman’s new allies will you choose to trust? And how deep into the darkness will you let Bruce descend?

This new season will be accessible to both returning fans and newcomers alike, though players’ choices from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series will optionally carry over into The Enemy Within. This season will also include Telltale’s unique multiplayer ‘Crowd Play’ feature, which allows friends and family to engage with the adventure together by helping to decide the direction of the story from any mobile device with an online connection

I am so very stoked to see Batman: The Enemy Within and where the whole story can take us here. Even with some of the comic lines mirroring what is being teased here, I have a feeling that Telltale Games will blow our minds yet again by twisting things even further like they did with the big spoiler from before. It will also be interesting to see just how all of our choices will make it and if they will directly affect things or just be little throw-off lines in the background. I’m going to guess that they will be a bit more on the throw-off side as it would be hard to design so quickly for all the different choices that this could have led to, but I know I secretly hope for a completely unique title all my own based on my choices so far. I guess we will know soon.

Batman: The Enemy Within — Summer 2017 Update

Are you as excited as I am to be able to hop back into the world that has been crafted with Batman: The Enemy Within? Do you think that The Riddler was a perfect choice again or will he be as The Penguin was in the last season and more of a secondary villain who is having his stings pulled? Do you think that all of the choices we made will carry over or will they just start us off in certain places in dialog trees with not much more of an effect? Let everyone know your thoughts on this and then discuss down in the comments here. As I said, Batman: The Enemy Within‘s first episode will be landing next week on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac with mobile devices coming soon. This means, of course, we will have a lot more of it here on the site so be sure to keep checking in.
