A New Live Action Horror Title, The Bunker, Coming This September

The Bunker — Gameplay

A new horror game, The Bunker, is coming out this September and The Bunker features Live Action play instead of traditional character models

It has been very far between when a video game uses live actors instead of polygons for gameplay but here we go with The Bunker. This is a new horror title coming out of Splendy Games for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices. It had a very small announcement back in April of this year but it looks like Wales Interactive wants to bring The Bunker to us all this September. No specific date has been announced as of yet but this is a step up from there being nothing when wind first started to pick up for it. Now we get to play this horror film on our own soon.

In The Bunker we take on the role of John who was born in a bunker after England was destroyed in a nuclear attack. He is the last survivor, of sorts, and it stays that way as he goes about his normal routine to keep his life and that of the bunker’s going. We just happen to get to step in when his routine is thrown into chaos and he must face the truth behind a whole lot of things he never knew before. Some of which being hidden secrets in his bunker that leads to all sorts of insanity. Some of which you can see in the latest gameplay trailer for the game just a bit lower down here.

The Bunker — Gameplay

Starring Adam Brown (The Hobbit), Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful), Grahame Fox (Game of Thrones), and Jerome St. John Blake (Star Wars), with a plot from writers behind The Witcher and SOMA, The Bunker stars John, the last remaining survivor in an underground bunker. A nuclear attack wiped out England 30 years ago and now John must stick to his routine to stay sane, but when the routine is thrown into chaos, “he must face his fears and uncover the terrifying mysteries held underground.”

The Bunker is a point and click adventure as you can see in the above gameplay but it does have the live actors play it all out. For me this is quite memorable to Night Trap that just happens to cross against Heavy Rain. Both were pretty much movies that we played out by pointing and clicking only here we most likely won’t see QTEs as those may be hard to get a live actor to react to. Maybe The Bunker will do just that and we’ll get a truly horrifying and new game to enjoy. Gods know we need something like that to shake up the status quo again. Stagnation sucks.

What are your thoughts on The Bunker and the live action gameplay we have here? Do you think this may push a leap for other developers and publishers to do the same instead of relying on digital versions to get the true fear across? Do you think that this is just a gimmick and won’t go further than just a launch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and discuss. As more on The Bunker comes out we’ll do what we can to get the information back out to you. Keep your eyes locked in here for more on the game as it comes.
