New gameplay for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is here to not only show us more for Ratchet & Clank but also the power of the PS5
With the PS5 almost here and still so little known about it, it is nice have some of the games that will be launching with or around the same time showing up as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. All part of the opening for this year’s virtual Gamescom, we have a new treat for the game besides just the announcement that it is coming from Insomniac Games. In fact, here we go with about seven minutes’ worth of gameplay caught right from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart to show off the game and some of the visual abilities of the new console. Maybe not to the best of degree with the art style used here, but it gives us a feel for what to expect with the game since we still cannot place hands on anything as of yet.
In this new gameplay for Ratchet & Clank, we get a good mix of all the various elements we will get to explore and exploit in the game. The obvious guns and gear show up a bit with little explanation as to what is going on with them, but we do get a fun look at how some of the platforming will work. It looks like Ratchet’s glove can use some of the dimensional vortexes to do various things in the game. Here we get to see how it can be used as a form of teleportation that just pulls the world to Ratchet instead of the other way around. This is also on top of all of the normal ways we would expect to get around in a Ratchet & Clank title.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart — Gameplay Demo
Ratchet & Clank find themselves at odds with their archnemesis, Dr. Nefarious. Only this time, he’s equipped with the dangerous Dimensionator, a device with the power to travel to other dimensions. The duo fights their way through an army of hired Goons in Megalopolis until something happens and they are ripped apart. Where are they now?
From acclaimed studio Insomniac Games, enjoy a visually dazzling, interdimensional adventure, complete with familiar faces and some new allies and enemies in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – exclusively on the PlayStation 5 console.
I do have to say that this not only makes the PS5 look amazing but also like a truly fresh thing for the Ratchet & Clank franchise. That is not to say that the last title was not fun to play, but this looks like what we should be looking for in terms of both the new gameplay and hardware that is coming. Some of these particle effects are stunning and it is interesting to see everything flowing so well at the same time. Not that I expected Ratchet & Clank to be a beast of a game when it came to hardware requirements, but it is looking spectacular to me and I am excited to see more for it all.
What do you think about what we have here for Ratchet & Clank and the PS5? Do you think it is still hard to tell right now given the art style of the game or can you see how it is going to be “next-gen.” Was there a part that stood out to you here in the gameplay or do you think that is all still to come? Let everyone out there know what you are thinking about all of this and more down in the comments. When we have more to share for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, we will add it all to the site for you. Just be sure to keep checking back in for all of that and more.
