The first real gameplay walkthrough for Hardspace: Shipbreaker is here to show how we will need to use all of our tools to survive in Hardspace
Given that Hardspace: Shipbreaker is slated to be shown off at PAX East this week, it was only a matter of time before we had some real gameplay to look at for the game. Not that the last trailer did not have much to offer up, but the one we have now has Trey Smith from Blackbird Interactive taking us on a nice little “walkthrough” of the gameplay experience. I say that, as it does look like we will be more floating around in Hardspace instead of walking. In a game about breaking down spaceships for salvage parts, it makes a whole lot more sense that way. Nonetheless, here we go with a nice new look at how the gameplay loops will function in the game just before it hits that Early Access state.
It looks like there is a whole lot more going on in Hardspace: Shipbreaker, as we will have to worry about the actual issues we would in space. Like depressurizing parts of the ships before cutting into them. Not doing so in the game could have some explosive results indeed. Also just cutting in wherever you want could have the same results with multiple different fuel tanks and other dangers all over the ships too. You know, the stuff that would make them fly and function are still there and all. Cutting into them at random could ruin some of the higher valued items in Hardspace or just get you flung out into the depths of space to never be seen again. Until you are brought back to keep the game flowing, that is.
With all of those dangers, it is good that we will have a scanner in Hardspace to be able to try to plan ahead on some things. It is something that will need to be upgraded as we progress through the game, but it can lead to showing off the higher valued items early one, the pressure dangers, and all of the other things that will kill you if you just cut right in. It looks like there is much more involved with it all here than previously shown. More so, when you take note that there are always going to be multiple ways to extract items. Something that can be seen at the tail end of the latest for Hardspace: Shipbreaker that we have just below.
