New behind the scenes features for Jessika is here to give a little more insight into how the team cast and made the upcoming Jessika
We have been keeping an eye on the indie FMV title Jessika as of late and now we have a few more behind the scenes videos to take in for it all. If you have been left out, this is the upcoming story game from Tri Trie Games and Assemble Entertainment that will have us going through FMV sequences to figure out all of the insanity that is going on there. Not a play on words with that from what we are learning for Jessika here either. Although I am hoping that none of this will spoil the fun on August 25th when it hit the PCs out there.
As you will see in the two videos here, the inspirations for Jessika is going to be coming from a fairly dark place and will keep going on through other darker themes. Not something that we could have seen from the original announcement but something that is interesting to see with the commentary for things in a few different nations out there. That has me sold even more on Jessika now. More so when you see what they went through to find the actress and actors we will have in the game and the level of skill they are going to bring to it all.
Jessika — Featurette #1
In the new behind-the-scenes trailer, the developers reveal the inspiration behind Jessika and why they sought out an FMV format to tell the story of her tragic end. Additionally, TriTrie Games expands upon the underlying message in the game, explaining how their personal views on the subversive topic evolved while in the development process.
Jessika — Featurette #2
In the developer diary, Tri Trie Games developers showcase how the team did extensive research to find the right actress to portray Jessika. The developers explain how the current political climate and real-world events helped shape the story of Jessika, which ultimately led to the perfect casting. From the beginning, the TriTrie Games team had a vision: portray Jessika as a completely normal person and find someone who perfectly embodies this vision.
While more than 50 women from all over Germany applied for the part, it was theatre and film actress Lisa Sophie Kusz who took home the leading role. The team explains how Lisa’s creative freedom allowed her to take an active role in various creative processes. As Lisa became more and more familiar with the project and the character, she was able to add extra depth to the emotional passages of the game.
Does all of this get you into giving Jessika a chance or will it slightly spoil things knowing what we do now? Will it be interesting to see how they are going to take on mental health and the bigger issue we all seem to keep ignoring? Does the option to use FMV still help it out given the performances or would you have rather seen motion captured characters instead? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. If there is more to share for Jessika, it will be added to the site for you all. Keep coming back so you do not miss out.
