A new RPG, Minimal Affect, is announced and it looks like Minimal Affect will take a parody look at many of those big Sci-Fi RPGs
In these times we can all use a bit of humor and it looks like we might just be getting that with the announcement of Minimal Affect for the PC and major consoles. Even if it is something we will have to wait until 2021 to actually get to see, that has not stopped Toadman Studios from giving us a small look at what is to come. Something, that if you have looked hard at things before now, poke a lot of fun at those massive Sci-Fi RPGs out there that may or may not rhyme with Minimal Affect in some way. Take an extra moment or so if you need to make that connection in your brain before moving along to see just what is going on here.
Got it now? Good. Now we can move forward with a look at Minimal Affect and the action RPG that it will be. Something a bit akin to Galaxy Quest and The Orville for those that enjoy the parody shows in the same vein of things. From the looks and description of things, Minimal Affect will play a bit like the other title mentioned but with a huge parody and amount of humor mixed in. Something to point out some of the absurdity of things but hopefully offer us a deeper thing too. Most likely not, but who would not want to play a joke version of Mass Effect here? Oops. I said the name of the other one for those that did not want me to spoil things and were still trying to figure out the connection.
Minimal Affect — Announcement
Go boldly into absurdity! Enad Global 7 (EG7) today announced Minimal Affect, a comical sci-fi action RPG packed with heroics and humor developed by Toadman Studios, coming to most major consoles and Windows PC in 2021. Created by an experienced team of longtime sci-fi fanatics, the title is a love letter to a wildly popular entertainment genre and aims to deliver an authentic, but unexpected, “space epic” with a diverse crew of dubious characters.
Warp speed into the absurd on a one of a kind journey across the Milky Way in Minimal Affect! What happens when the rag-tag crew aboard the Star Alliance Balding Eagle blasts off on their maiden journey? Well, things get scary real quick. And the team turns to… their “fearless” leader?
Minimal Affect is a story-driven space adventure with a colorful cast of characters on a quest to save the galaxy once again and get into a LOT of space alien combat. Guide your team, meet new characters, learn new skills, explore side quests and generally do everything you’d expect to do in a third-person action RPG, all set in a vibrant, stylish world that feels like playing a cartoon.
Developed by Toadman Studios and published by Sold Out– both companies in the EG7 group, Minimal Affect will launch in North America and Europe in 2021. The title will be available on most major consoles and Windows PC at launch, with more platform details to be revealed at a later date.
Does Minimal Affect look to be doing what it is setting out to do for you or will it be something that misses your mark? Are you excited to see games like this come out to add a bit of levity to the world or is it going to be something you will skip because it is no longer serious? How close to the action of the other game do you think we are going to get or will it only be close enough to get the point across? Let us all know down in the comments what is on your mind and then feel free to discuss it all. For more on Minimal Affect, be sure to keep checking back here. We will have it all and you will like it.
