Monstrum Is Finally Making Its Way Onto The Consoles In May

Monstrum — Release Date

The release date for Monstrum is finally set down and it looks like we are going to see Monstrum hit us all this coming May

The wait is almost over for those waiting to play Monstrum on the PS4, Xbox One, or Switch as it looks like the game will finally be here on May 22nd. It feels like it has been a long time since we first heard that the game was making the jump over from the PC to the consoles and Team Junkfish is wrapping it up. It has only been a few years since it was announced that Monstrum was going to do that and now SOEDESCO is making it a reality. Even in the mix of all of the slowdowns that the publisher is going through given the pandemic right now. Something that this one is also going to have a few issues with.

That said, this release for Monstrum is only for the digital version of the game on the platforms listed as COVID-19 has made the physical releases a bit more of a challenge for them all. This is not the biggest of deals given the digital age we are in and the physical is not something many of us need anymore. It also makes it easier for games like Monstrum to actually get out there in the mix of things like what is going on out there. That is a whole different rabbit hole to go down, so we will stick back to the launch here and the new trailer we have to go with the announcement of when console gamers will be able to experience this horror.

Monstrum — Release Date

On May 22, 2020, the critically acclaimed survival horror game Monstrum is coming digitally to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The physical release is postponed to a later date due to the current global developments related to COVID-19. Monstrum combines deadly AI driven predators and permadeath within a procedurally-generated container ship level, to create a truly re-playable horror experience on the open seas.

In Monstrum, players awaken trapped on a massive, derelict cargo ship with no knowledge of how they got there. Hunted by a horrific predator, they must scavenge the ship for clues and tools to find a means of escape. Left completely defenseless against a prowling beast; the only way to survive is to distract, hide, or slow the creature down before running for your life. Players only have one chance; permadeath and no save points means that once killed, they’ll have to start from scratch — so try not to get caught!

The procedurally generated ship not only ensures you stay lost in the labyrinth of rooms, pathways, and items that change with each new game but also randomizes the monster hunting you too… so brace for the unexpected.

About Monstrum

Stranded on an abandoned cargo ship, you find yourself hunted by one of Monstrum’s terrifying predators; each with their own strategy, abilities, and weaknesses. You’ll have to use your wits to outsmart your pursuer within the ship’s procedurally generated environment as you search for an escape. Death is permanent; get killed and you’ll be starting all over again. Can you survive Monstrum?

Key Features

  • Survive a changing environment and monster with each new game
  • Use whatever you can find to outwit the monsters and escape the ship
  • Hide, distract, and run, but be careful not to fall into the numerous traps
  • Death is permanent. Try to stay alive or you’ll have to start all over again

Have you been waiting for Monstrum to hit the consoles or have you forgotten all about the release here? Is it odd that it was announced the game was coming to consoles back in 2018 and now we are getting it out there? Could this be a forced thing to keep everything afloat during these times as they work on the already announced sequel to the game? Let us know what is on your mind down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. For more on Monstrum, if there is more, be sure to keep checking in here. We will keep it all coming at you as best and fast as we can.
