Meet More Of The Aquato Family As Psychonauts 2 Is Delayed

Psychonauts 2 — The Aquato Family

It looks like Psychonauts 2 has been delayed a bit but we also get a nice look at some of the supporting cast being added into Psychonauts 2

If you were looking forward to seeing Psychonauts 2 in 2018 sometime, then let me be the one to tell you that your dream is going to be crushed. It looks like the game is going to be delayed until sometime outside of 2018 now as Double Fine has expanded not only their team for the game but also the scope. You can read that as they are making Psychonauts 2 bigger and better than we originally thought it would be. At least I am sure that is the hope for it all as taking the extra time and adding the extra members of the team would allude to. At least we can tell where all of the backer’s money is going to now and not just fun pizza parties and such.

Now that we made it through the bad news, there is a bit of good news here for Psychonauts 2. Along with the delay announcement, we also have another look at the actual game a bit and how the team is building the supporting cast. Specifically here the Aquato Family for the game. They will be playing a bigger part in Psychonauts 2 and needed to get the full design thing done for them. In the below video, we can see how the whole family looks but in the end they focus more on the sister of the group. Have a look at this new update to try to help you recover from the blow of needing to wait another year at a minimum for the game.

Production update

We have now ramped up into full production mode! We have five full level teams working on the real world locations and brand new mental worlds, as well as our full gameplay team working on powers, platforming, puzzles, and combat.— all kinds of great stuff!

Now we are in full swing, we know a lot more about the size and scope of the game we are going to make, how long it will take us to make it, and the amount of time we need to make it be great. From those projections we know that Psychonauts 2 will not be shipping in 2018, like we originally estimated when we published the Fig campaign two years ago.

We love the game we’re making and we want to make sure that

Psychonauts 2

is something you’ll love too — a game that carries on the legacy of Psychonauts in a meaningful and special way. We’re making great progress, but we want to make sure the game has the time it needs to shine.

We’re sorry that you’ll have to wait a little longer than we first estimated, but we’re also hopeful that you’ll understand it will mean being able to deliver a better game. We’re really excited about the things we’re making, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Are you truly upset that Psychonauts 2 has been delayed or do you think it will definitely lead to a better game overall? Do you buy that adding in more people to the mix will make a better game or will it just lead to more head-butting and another delay? What do you think of the looks of the Aquato family that we have here? Give us all of those crazy thoughts down in the comments and then discuss. When we get more for Psychonauts 2, we will give you more. At least if you stick around on the site here.
