Night Trap Is Getting A Re-Release On The PS4 & Xbox One Now

Night Trap — 25th Anniversary Edition - Announcement Trailer

Even with the failed Night Trap Kickstarter from years ago, it looks like Night Trap is getting a re-release for the current gen consoles sometime soon

Well mark this in one that came out of left field, but it looks like we are getting a re-release for Night Trap only 25 years after it started a weird thing. The weird thing being the ERSB and such but let’s skip that and move onto the announcement that Limited Run Games and Screaming Villains are putting the game together again for all of us to enjoy or see what the camp 90’s horror game had for us all. I am sure all of you youngling’s here have no clue what Night Trap but it is something to be excited for as it jumps from the Sega CD over to the PS4 and Xbox One sometime soon. They say Spring but that is such an open-ended thing.

For those not in the know, Night Trap was a full FMV style game where you take on the role of a security expert monitoring a party of teenage girls doing what they do best; party. Unfortunately for them it looks like some vampires are trying to break in and do vampire things and it is up to us to watch and trigger the house’s weird traps to keep everyone safe and not knowing what is going on in the background. Hence the name Night Trap. Aren’t they clever on all of that? Although I never thought I was saving everyone from vampires the first time I played it.

Night Trap — 25th Anniversary Edition – Announcement Trailer

Night Trap tells the story of five teenage girls spending the weekend at the Martin home. As a member of the Special Control Attack Team, your job is to monitor the home and protect the girls using an intricate system of cameras and traps as it is being invaded by vampires.

If you think you remember Night Trap getting a re-release already, then it is a good time to remind you that we did see a Kickstarter back in 2014 to try and bring the game back from the original team but it fell flat. That was also supposed to be a reboot/remaster to the game and not just a re-release that we have now. This is how it is for now so keep an eye out for Night Trap soon. It will be digitally on the Xbox One and PS4 but PS4 owners will have the option to pick up a physical version of the game to add to their collection. I am sure I know which version I am going to go with and now need to figure out which of the three covers I am going for.

Do you remember playing Night Trap way back on the Sega CD or is this too old of a title for you to know? Do you think that this will kick off the option to recreate the game for a modern market or is this just a fun way to relive some old title? Which of the three physical covers look to be the one you will go with? Let us know down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Night Trap as we get it, be sure to stay here on the site. Hopefully there will be a bit more to it all than a re-release and a fun audio track to get stuck in our heads.
