Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered Will Be Releasing Very Soon

Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered — Announcement

The release date for the Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remaster is now set for us to continue this classic Turok story

It has been a few months since Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered was revealed to be coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Not a terrible thing, but something worth noting as Nightdive Studios keeps these remasters coming. Coming to make sure we keep those nostalgic brains flowing and ready for more. More of which we are now getting on November 30th when this version of Turok 3 will be landing on all of those listed platforms. This will finally let all of those who missed out on it all before to finally get the rest of the story and in the classic way that could have only been done on the N64 over twenty years ago. Gods, this is getting old again.

If you are just learning about this remaster of Turok 3, that is okay and understandable out there. What you do need to know is that it will be keeping with all of its classic looks, feels, and sounds out there but opting to give it all in the 4K 120fps that some of the systems can do. This is a remaster after all. That does mean that this version of Turok 3 will also be getting the other little updates for the controllers and the ability to show off that you did certain things in the game. That means that there will be trophy and achievement support in the mix too. As well as all of the other quality-of-life updates that will bring the game closer to playing as many would expect it to in the modern era we are living in right now. You will just need to ignore some of those visuals that we thought we all the rage back in the day.

Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered — Announcement

The final chapter in the remastered Turok trilogy will now be released on November 30, 2023, on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch!

Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered is a faithful restoration of the classic first-person shooter originally released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, upgraded through Nightdive Studios’ proprietary KEX Engine for play on modern gaming devices with up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS. It features upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for console gamepads with platform-specific features. It joins Nightdive Studios’ popular remasters of Turok and Turok 2: Seeds Of Evil.

Players choose between dual protagonists Joseph and Danielle Fireseed, siblings of Turok 2: Seeds Of Evil protagonist Joshua Fireseed. Together, they must defeat the titular antagonist Oblivion and its followers, the Flesh Eaters, after the supposed demise of their brother at its hands.

Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Key Features:

  • A remastered version of the 2000 classic, available for the first time since its Nintendo 64 release
  • Up to 4K 120FPS performance on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S
  • Advanced rendering features, including anti-aliasing, bloom, ambient occlusion, dynamic shadows, and motion blur
  • Remastered environment art, character models, and updated weapon models
  • Optional Motion/Gyro controls for Nintendo Switch console and Gamepad rumble
  • Trophies and Achievements on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles

I get the point of offering up remasters and that the Turok IP has been doing this for a while now, but I think that this is another that should have gone the remake path if they really wanted to give it to the fans again. Sure, those of us who have been gaming for a while now might have some special place in our hearts for all of this, but it feels like that group of gamers is getting smaller by the day. Given that this is a title that is twenty-three years old now, it is not aging well and any of the current gamers out there will see this and think it is laughable. A remaster is the easy way to keep the Turok line afloat, but I think it is time for a next-gen version or continuation and not just a recycled title that is old enough to drink by itself out there.

Are you one of those huge fans of Turok that will be shelling out for this remaster or have these things died out in general? Would it have been a better idea to go with a full remake instead or could this be just to keep the IP alive a little longer? Would you want to see a totally new title in the line or is this a relic of the past and should be left firmly there? Head to the comments section to discuss all of this and let the world know your thoughts. If we have more to say about Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered, we will share it all here. Please keep on coming back to see and hear all that we have for it.
