The Ghost Ship Decays Even More For Man Of Medan

The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan — Designing The Ghost Ship Pt. 2

The second part of the Man Of Medan developer diary is here to go further into the decay we will experience in the ghost ship of Man Of Medan

We are back with more for Man Of Medan as the second part of the developer diary on the Ghost Ship has been dropped out there. Last time we had a chance to see how Supermassive Games took inspiration and audio to craft a horrifying location, now we get to see just how some of it was put to use in the game and other aspects we may not have seen just yet. Specifically as it all comes to the decay and reclamation of the ship that is happening in Man Of Medan. The reclamation being that of nature and the sea and what happens to large hunks of metal when left out there for too long. You know, they rust up.

Not the biggest surprise that that is going to happen in Man Of Medan, but it is interesting to see how the team went about making sure it all fit into the game properly. I am a bit curious, and concerned, that all of the characters in the game are shown to be barefoot now. I am sure there are reasons, but running around a haunted and rusting ship without footwear does not lead me to think we are going to be spared some cringe-worthy scenes. Just the thought of it all makes me shudder. I guess that is the goal of Man Of Medan though, so good job there. I just hope we do not get reenactment scenes from Die Hard here, as rusty metal is much worse than broken glass.

The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan — Designing The Ghost Ship Pt. 2

Watch part 2 of our Dev Diary – Designing the Ghost Ship.

In the first Dev-diary, the Supermassive Games team talk about everything from the authentic audio of the door latches, the way sound reverberates inside the ship to the concept and influences behind the creation of the ship. Every detail was designed in order to give players the most terrifying and atmospheric experience possible.

The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of stand-alone, cinematic horror games, designed to deliver a new and terrifying experience at regular intervals. Each game is unconnected and will feature a brand-new story, setting and a new cast of characters. In Man Of Medan, four young Americans set sail on a diving trip, to find a rumored WWII wreck. As the day unfolds, and a storm rolls in, their trip soon changes into something much more sinister.

Do you have any new thoughts for Man Of Medan after seeing this latest update? Do you like the way that the ship is being designed here or is it getting a little too dark for your tastes? Are you also cringing at the thought of running around the ship barefoot or do you think we will be spared what that usually leads to when playing the game? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Man Of Medan, though, be sure to keep checking back in here. We will keep all of those updates coming at you as best that we can.
